Park ranger fired after dancing on the job

A park ranger has been fired after dancing on the job. 50-year-old Deryl Nelson worked in Coolidge Park. He says the dancing is something he’s done for years to bring joy to visitors. But the Chattanooga Department of Public Works let him go after a park-goer posted a video on Facebook of him dancing. The city says it was conduct unbecoming of a city employee. And that several factors led to the termination. Nelson had been suspended twice before, once for a crash that happened on the job, and last year for making inappropriate remarks to a co-worker. But last year he won an award from the police department for helping save a woman’s life at the park. Now Nelson says he needs help paying for food and gas - as he searches for another job.
