Flu death toll climbing

Two people have died of the flu in Northwest Georgia, and health officials are urging everyone to get vaccinated, and quickly. The Georgia Department of Public Health says the two area flu victims were both middle-aged, and neither had any record of getting a flu shot. The fatalities are the flu deaths reported in the area this year, bringing Georgia’s total death toll this season to 20. In middle Tennessee, 12 people have died from the flu this season, including 11-year-old Savannah Hyden. Her parents say they didn’t get her vaccinated because they were worried about the side effects. Tennessee typically sees its highest number of flu cases in January and February. Now Tennessee health departments are giving out the vaccine at no cost and urging everyone to take part.
